Right at the beginning of June 2020, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) again won a proud achievement. UMY was ranked first as the best private tertiary institution in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY) and ranked second as the best national private tertiary institution. This achievement achieved by UMY is the result of a survey conducted by 4ICU Uni-Rank.
Uni-Rank is a ranking that aims to give a global ranking of the university based on the popularity of the university’s official website or website in terms of traffic, trust, and also the popularity of quality links. 571 higher education institutions in Indonesia are given rank by the Uni-Rank. All of these institutions previously had to meet several criteria, namely to be accredited by the government (KEMRISTEKDIKTI), had to hold three levels of education, namely bachelor, master, and doctoral, and had a varied learning process.
In this regard, UMY’s Chancellor, Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto., MP, IPM, when met by the UMY Public Relations Bureau on Wednesday (3/6), said that the ranking conducted by the Union-Rank was one manifestation of the industrial revolution era 4.0 where almost everything could be done online with the internet network. “Overall, the criteria for the popularity of a college website can be an indicator to see how much the college carries out the process by optimizing the use or internet access,” he said.
According to Gunawan, aside from public information about universities and academic needs such as journals, the massive use of online learning, which increased by 460% at UMY following the policy of conducting distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, became one of the complementary factors for UMY’s success in entered the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 and achieved this achievement. “This ranking can be a motivation for universities to further improve their quality in order to maintain public trust and also academics,” he concluded.
