With the presence of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution in the economy in Indonesia, especially the financial services sector, modern society at this time certainly addresses this as an ease of transaction. Although in reality in the view of some workers the industrial revolution 4.0 does indeed pose a threat to them in getting a job. Then one solution is to improve human competence itself so that it can continue to overcome the Industrial Age 4.0.
To open opportunities in improving these competencies, the 2019 International of Management and Business Program (IMaBs) held The 5th International Conference of Management Sciences (ICOMS 2019) on Tuesday (26/3) at the Prambanan Ballroom at Cavinton Hotel Yogyakarta. “In this event there are present economic academics in international conferences. Then business practitioners and researchers from various universities to exchange knowledge through 45 research papers presented. So that we can share knowledge so that we can continue to advance in the Industrial Age 4.0, “explained Dr. Indah Fatmawati, M.Si, IMabs Program Director.
In the international conference, there were presenters from 3 countries who were experts in economics, namely Prof. Shu Hsien Liao is from Tamkang University Taiwan, Dr. Shafinar Hj. Ismail from UITM Malaysia, and Assoc. Prof. Pensri Joroenwanit Khon Khaen University Thailand. On this occasion, Dr. Baruna Kurnianto from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) who stated that the Industrial Age 4.0 was not a threat, it was an opportunity for Indonesia. “Some financial services such as banking continue to improve the utilization of information technology through digital banking (mobile banking) as well as branchless banking, with these customers becoming easy to transact,” he explained.
Even the rapid advancements in the Industrial Age 4.0 with Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things, how to transact will be very fast and efficient in the future. “Maybe later along with the development of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 with the existence of AI, human workers can coexist with robots or maybe be replaced. Likewise the analysis function with the presence of Big Data will be played by a faster and more accurate computer, “Baruna explained again.
Therefore Baruna appreciates ICOMS 2019 with the theme of Strengthening Competitiveness to Cope with Industrial Revolution 4.0, according to him this theme is very in line with the fact that human resources in Indonesia still need to be improved. “Professionals in the financial services industry must also be prepared for the potential for reduced professions due to the development of digital technology. Therefore, by developing self competencies, such as through the 2019 ICOMS event, the hope can be to build self competencies that cannot be replaced by robots, “he added. (Pras)
